Holiday at Home is an annual 2 week community event organised jointly by Formby Befriending Scheme and Formby Luncheon Club. It aims to provide elderly people in our community with a holiday they wouldn’t otherwise have, This involves around 30 events over a fortnight hosted in various community buildings by various groups, local businesses and churches.

Events include musical entertainment, shows, quizzes, displays, games, crafts, parties, meals, health & fitness sessions, film screenings, theatre productions and outings. Some events are specifically planned to be dementia friendly.

Organisation, bookings and transport is managed by a small group of paid staff and volunteers.

The event was first held in 2018 and then again in 2019. Unfortunately, 2020 and 2021 had to be cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic. It is returning in 2022, although on a slightly smaller scale than usual.
